  1. My husband (Rick Yancey) and I recently relocated back to the Knoxville area. Rick is an author (www.rickyancey.com) and he recently won ALA’s Printz Honor for his new YA series, “The Monstrumologist.” We are the parents of three sons and have devoted time over the past few years to furthering the cause of getting boys interested in reading. I am a native of East TN and am currently working with geneologists and historians in completing the story of my 5th Great Grandfather, Lovett Reed. Lovett is a Revolutionary War veteran and a pioneer of the Bear Den or Happy Top area that is in the area where modern day Bledsoe, Cumberland and Rhea counties merge. He was educated but over the years many of my ancestors lived a hard life in that area and some were unable to read. Furthering literacy in Tennessee is a cause very near to my heart. Rick and I both would love to be involved in working administratively or helping with awareness and fundraising efforts. Please feel free to contact us at any time if we can be involved in your efforts. Thank you….

  2. Hi Sandy. I would highly recommend learning more about our volunteer program. We are in constant need of volunteer tutors in our GED and New Readers classrooms. Under the volunteer tab, there is a short application and more information.

  3. I’m an active retiree who loves reading. Previous employment history has always involved working with the public in some capacity and find such work rewarding. My husband and I do travel occasionally and I am unable to commit to 6 mos. unbroken involvement. Is there still a place for me within your organization or do you recommend I try others. I was referred by Becky Hare of RSVP.

  4. We would love to have your help. Please fill out an application so that you can enroll in the training class.
