• 500,929 have less than a ninth grade education
• 1, 167, 995 age 18 and above are lacking a high school diploma
• Among the 50 states, Tennessee has the sixth highest illiteracy and drop-out rate

  KNOX COUNTY

• 23,831 adults have less than nine years of education
• 31,761 have nine or more years of education, but do not have a high school diploma
• 55,502 adults do not have a high school diploma
